Regional Indonesian government updates on budgets and food stability
Various regional government and economic developments are occurring across several Indonesian cities. In Serang, the local government and DPRD have agreed on a 2026 budget amendment of Rp 1.74 trillion, aimed at accelerating infrastructure development.
In Semarang, the Education Office confirmed that School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds for 2026 will remain at full allocation without budget rationalization. The budget includes approximately Rp 114 billion for elementary schools and Rp 70 billion for junior high schools.
In Medan, the DPRD is calling for an audit of Regional Original Income (PAD) following concerns over potential revenue leaks and a 16.54 percent decrease in the 2025 target. Simultaneously, the PKS faction has urged the Medan government to stabilize the prices and availability of basic commodities due to rising costs. To address food security, Bulog Medan has increased the distribution of SPHP rice to 150 tons per day to help maintain price stability and consumer purchasing power.
