Administrative irregularities reported in Chile and Spain

In Chile, a report from the Comptroller General (CGR) has revealed significant delays in administrative disciplinary proceedings. Between 2020 and March 2026, 485 officials in the Central Administration were preventively suspended. In 13 cases, these suspensions have lasted four years or more, during which time the individuals continue to receive their full salaries or 50% of them.

The delays are attributed to the rigid nature of the procedures, the lack of specialized investigators, and the fact that investigators must often balance these duties with their primary roles. Critics suggest that legal reforms and better management, potentially involving external specialized investigators, are necessary to improve efficiency.

In Spain, the Diputación de Valencia has suspended a selection process for seven mechanic-driver positions following suspicions of irregularities. After an initial exam on September 1, unusually high scores led the institution to demand explanations from the tribunal members regarding the exam's creation and the sources used for the questions.

The PSPV political group raised concerns regarding the potential favoritism of individuals close to the PP. Consequently, the Human Resources department halted the publication of grades and suspended the selection process to conduct a formal investigation into the integrity of the exam.
