ADNOC vessels attacked in Strait of Hormuz, UAE accuses Iran FAST-MOVING
The United Arab Emirates has accused Iran of attacking two vessels owned by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) in the Strait of Hormuz on the evening of August 13. According to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ADNOC, the incident involved unprovoked attacks on personnel and assets, though no injuries were reported and the situation was brought under control.
The UAE described the incident as a hostile act and “acts of piracy” committed by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, characterizing it as a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817 regarding the freedom of navigation. Officials stated that such actions pose a direct threat to regional stability and global energy security.
The attack occurs amid heightened tensions in the region, following the outbreak of conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran in late February. The Strait of Hormuz is a vital waterway through which approximately one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas passes. While the UAE demands the unconditional reopening of the strait, Iran has asserted its control over the waterway, dismissing US claims of maritime control as fabrications.
