Meena Geltink and Minal Tijssen discover they are biological sisters via DNA test
Two women, Meena Geltink and Minal Tijssen, have discovered they are biological sisters through a MyHeritage DNA test, 40 years after being adopted from an orphanage in India.
The pair first met in 1996 at a gathering for adopted children in the Netherlands. Despite feeling an immediate connection and noticing their physical resemblance, they eventually lost contact for 15 years. Both women grew up in separate Dutch families, living approximately 100 to 130 miles apart.
The discovery occurred in April when Tijssen, who currently resides in France, received her DNA results. The test confirmed a 100% sibling match. Geltink, a mother of three living in the Netherlands, described the revelation as finding a “missing puzzle piece” that filled a long-standing emotional void. The sisters recently reunited in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, to celebrate their biological bond.
