Advanced Space and SDL partner on CAPSTONE 02 lunar mission

Advanced Space and Utah State University’s Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) have announced a continued partnership for the CAPSTONE 02 mission. As the prime contractor and operator, Advanced Space is leading the mission to advance autonomous navigation, rendezvous, proximity operations, and communications in cislunar space for NASA.

The mission utilizes two ESPA-class spacecraft built by Terran Orbital. SDL is contributing two flight-qualified Iris Radios along with associated hardware for communications, navigation, and precise timekeeping. These systems are designed to support both direct-to-Earth communications and spacecraft-to-spacecraft crosslinks to demonstrate coordinated autonomy near the Moon.
