Turkey Announces Expanded Birth Aid and Child Support Program

Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş said the government will deposit the next birth‑aid installments on 29 July, bringing total payments to 1,175,601 mothers and 22.5 billion lira. She added, "29 Temmuz’da da inşallah bu ayki ödemelerimiz hesaplara yatacak. Bugüne kadar 1 milyon 175 bin 601 anneye 22,5 milyar liralık ödeme gerçekleştirmiş olacağız."

Starting 1 January 2025, new child‑support benefits will provide a one‑off 5,000 lira for a first child, a monthly 1,500 lira for a second child and a monthly 5,000 lira for a third and subsequent children. The minister noted that regular payments are already being made to 700,541 children under the scheme.

The Youth and Family Fund has disbursed 2.8 billion lira to 24,946 young people, contributing to a total of 16.8 billion lira of support since the programme began. A draft law aimed at preventing juvenile crime will allow a 24‑hour emergency protection report for children in need, with the complementary Income Family Support System slated for passage in the new parliamentary term.
