Aecon-led consortium awarded $815 million Winnipeg sewage plant upgrade

A consortium headed by Aecon Group Inc. secured an $815‑million contract to upgrade Winnipeg's North End Sewage Treatment Plant, the city's largest and oldest wastewater facility. The partnership, known as Red River Biosolids Partners, includes MWH Constructors and Oscar Renda Contracting, each holding a one‑third stake, with Stantec providing design services. The project is intended to help the plant meet stricter environmental standards, protect local waterways, and increase treatment capacity. Construction is slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2030, with final completion expected by the second quarter of 2031.
