Global weather alerts: El Niño and DANA systems trigger extreme rain and temperature shifts

A significant weather shift is occurring across multiple regions. In Latin America, CEPAL and NOAA report a high probability of a powerful El Niño phenomenon, with a 75% chance of reaching historic magnitude by December. This could lead to increased rainfall and flooding risks in northern and central-eastern Argentina, potentially impacting agriculture and food prices.

In Spain, AEMET and local authorities have warned of a major weather change driven by a DANA (isolated high-altitude depression). This system is expected to bring intense and persistent rainfall, storms, and a notable drop in temperatures across the Mediterranean coast, the Balearic Islands, and parts of Catalonia and Valencia. Emergency protocols, such as the Inuncat plan in Catalonia, have been activated to manage flood risks.

Additionally, severe weather alerts have been issued for various regions, including storm warnings in Chubut, Argentina, and temperature drops in Coahuila, Mexico.
