Aenaoon Metropolitan Park receives final approval for construction

The Court of Audit has granted final approval for the construction contract of the ‘Aenaoon’ Metropolitan Park at Faliro Bay, clearing the way for one of the largest urban redevelopment projects in Attica. Attica Regional Governor Nikos Hardalias announced that the contract is scheduled to be signed on September 2, 2026.

The project, which aims to create the largest open green park in the Mediterranean, is expected to begin construction in January 2027, with an inauguration planned for the second half of 2029. The park will cover 741 acres and include green spaces, walking and cycling paths, and sports and recreational facilities.

The development is supported by 370 million euros in funding from the European Commission. The approval follows a 21-month process involving 11 different studies, numerous permits, and oversight from four institutional bodies, including the Single Public Procurement Authority and the Council of State.
