Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis noted that the agreement resolves a “decades-old issue,” describing the park as a design based on “New Bauhaus principles of sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusion.”

Spanning approximately 540 to 650 acres (741 to 1,000 stremmata), the project aims to transform the coastal front into a “green lung” for the Attica Basin. The plan includes 250 acres of new greenery, with approximately 75% of the area covered in Mediterranean natural vegetation, including 4,000 trees and up to 210,000 plants and shrubs.

Planned facilities include a 90-acre urban linear park, a multifunctional children’s sports center, swimming pools, and courts for basketball, squash, beach volleyball, and fencing. The site will also feature an open-air amphitheater, exhibition spaces, a summer cinema, and dining facilities. Construction is expected to begin in January 2027, with completion targeted for the second half of 2029.
