Aeolian Islands host international tourism and B2B workshops

The EXCOVER project, ‘Explore & Discover the Aeolian Islands’, recently concluded an educational tour and B2B workshop series aimed at promoting sustainable and seasonal tourism across the archipelago. The initiative brought together 14 international tour operators and seven foreign journalists and content creators to explore the seven islands.

The program highlighted the region's museum, archaeological, and geo-volcanological heritage, as well as its natural trails and endemic species. It also showcased local agro-food excellence, including caper cultivation, Malvasia delle Lipari DOC wines, ancient grains, seafood, and traditional dairy products from Vulcano.

During workshops held on October 18 and 19 in Lipari and Salina, 78 local businesses met individually with international buyers. The initiative sought to strengthen ties with high-spending markets such as the United States, the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), Spain, Benelux, Scandinavia, Poland, Australia, and New Zealand, while exploring emerging markets in India and the Middle East. The strategic goal is to encourage tourism during the shoulder seasons of March, June, September, and December to preserve the islands' authenticity and ecological balance.
