Overview
The EXCOVER (Explore & Discover the Aeolian Islands) project launched an international initiative to promote sustainable and seasonal tourism across the archipelago. The project, funded by the Italian Ministry of Tourism, aimed to diversify visitor arrivals beyond the summer months by focusing on the islands’ natural paths, historical-cultural heritage, and local gastronomy.
In mid-October, the initiative held workshops in Lipari and Salina, facilitating B2B meetings between 78 local businesses and 14 international tour operators. The program also included a delegation of foreign journalists and content creators to increase global media coverage. The strategic goal is to attract high-spending markets—including the United States, the DACH region, and emerging markets in India and the Middle East—during the shoulder seasons of March, June, September, and December to help preserve the islands' ecological balance and authenticity.
