Aeon Mall to lead redevelopment of former Aeon Kagoshima Kamochi site

Aeon Mall has entered into a trust beneficiary rights sales agreement with Aeon Kyushu to acquire the site of the former Aeon Kagoshima Kamochi store. The transaction is scheduled to be finalized on November 2, 2026.

The former site, which previously housed the Daiei Kagoshima store, closed in August 2024 due to building aging. The redevelopment is expected to be led by Aeon Mall, marking the first time the company will directly operate a facility in Kagoshima Prefecture. While specific plans remain unannounced, the project may involve a large-scale urban complex including residential or hotel components, following the company's history of developing major regional hubs.

Separately, Cypress Holdings announced it will open five dining brands at the upcoming Aeon Mall Date in Fukushima Prefecture, scheduled for grand opening on November 27, 2026. These include sushi, seafood, tonkatsu, and yakitori concepts, as well as the launch of a new tendon specialty brand.
