Aerial firefighting deployed as wildfire erupts in Mariolata, Fokida, Greece

A wildfire broke out in low, dry vegetation in the Mariolata area of the Gravia municipality, Fokida region, on 30 June 2026. Strong ground forces of the fire brigade were mobilised to combat the blaze, and aerial assets were also deployed to assist in extinguishing the fire.

The incident prompted the use of both land‑based and air‑borne resources to contain the spread of flames in the affected area of central Greece.
