Aeroparque Jorge Newbery closes for 55 hours for runway maintenance

Aeroparque Jorge Newbery has suspended all flight operations for 55 hours, starting Tuesday at 9:00 AM until Thursday, August 27 at 4:00 PM. The closure is due to essential preventive maintenance on the main runway, including patching and lighting work.

Approximately 900 flights are affected by this interruption. Of these, about 540 flights are being transferred to Ezeiza International Airport, while 360 are being rescheduled. The transfer to Ezeiza is expected to increase its daily activity by 80%, rising from an average of 530 movements to approximately 940.

The maintenance is part of a broader US$85 million modernization plan by Aeropuertos Argentina. This project aims to accommodate growing passenger demand and includes expanding the North Platform, the domestic Inspection and Registration Point (PIR), check-in halls, and international arrival walkways. The upgrades are intended to improve operational safety and efficiency ahead of the high season in October.
