Aerospace technology and drones utilized for wildfire prevention in Galicia
The Campus de Ourense is hosting the VI International Campus Auga Congress to discuss how aerospace technology, including drones, satellites, and remote sensing, can combat forest fires, droughts, and climate change. The event features experts analyzing real-world applications such as real-time observation for agriculture and predictive models for fire prevention.
Demonstrations will include flight and control systems from the Aerolab group and the Aeroganp project, led by the Institute of Physics and Aerospace Sciences of UVigo. Additionally, the Guardia Civil’s Pegaso team will demonstrate drone and helicopter inhibition techniques to ensure airspace security.
In the region of Galicia, the technological center ITG is already implementing autonomous drone systems to monitor forests. Their NIDOS system utilizes robotic hangars that allow drones to take off, complete missions, and return autonomously for 24-hour surveillance operations.
