AES Confederation and Togo advance customs union cooperation

Customs directors from the Confederation of Sahel States (AES) and Togo met with Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, to report on recent regional cooperation efforts.

The delegation, led by Togo’s Minister Delegate for the Budget, discussed outcomes from a meeting held in Ouagadougou between AES customs directors and the Togo Revenue Authority. Key objectives include finalizing the text for a customs union, establishing procedures for the certification and recognition of confederate origin, and implementing the interconnection of information systems between Togo and the AES member states.

President Traoré, acting as the current President of the AES Confederation, provided directives to facilitate trade between member states and to strengthen the role of customs in cleaning up and supporting the regional economy.
