Afcom Holdings signs LOI for up to four Boeing 777-8F freighters

Chennai-based cargo airline Afcom Holdings has signed a letter of intent with Boeing to acquire up to four 777-8F freighter aircraft. This move marks the company’s planned entry into widebody freighter operations.

The proposed aircraft will be based in Chennai and are intended to support Afcom’s expansion into the Far East and Africa, building upon its existing international network that includes services to Dubai. The airline expects to meet demand in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, perishables, engineering equipment, and automotive components.

Afcom currently operates three Boeing 737-800 freighters and intends to increase its narrowbody fleet to five aircraft. The acquisition of the next-generation 777-8F platform represents a significant shift toward long-haul capacity and fleet modernization. While the final number of aircraft remains subject to definitive agreements, Chairman Deepak Parasuraman indicated the intention is to acquire four units.
