AfD leader Chrupalla postpones BSW coalition talks until after state elections

AfD chairman Tino Chrupalla said his party will wait for the outcome of the autumn state elections in Saxony‑Anhalt and Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern before discussing any possible cooperation with the BSW. He criticised a recent public letter from the BSW that rejected the so‑called “brand wall” and called for internal discussion before making the issue public.

The BSW is facing internal turmoil, with several Brandenburg regional leaders resigning in protest over the party’s stance on the brand‑wall issue. Party leaders have pledged a course correction, promising not to support parties that maintain the brand wall. The unrest follows poor results in the 2024 state elections and the 2025 federal election, and the upcoming state polls are seen as decisive for any future AfDBSW alliance.
