Afenyo-Markin defends Ghana National Cathedral as tourism asset

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has defended the proposed National Cathedral in Ghana, arguing that the project serves purposes beyond religious worship. During a meeting with the Christian Council, Afenyo-Markin stated that the cathedral could function as a significant tourism attraction and a national landmark, similar to historical religious sites in other countries.

Afenyo-Markin emphasized that the facility could enhance Ghana’s national image and serve as a rallying point for the country. However, he also criticized the government for a lack of clarity regarding the stalled project, accusing officials of inconsistency concerning the future use of the site after it was returned to the state.
