Afghanistan players secure record contracts in ILT20 auction

Twenty-five players from Afghanistan have been selected across six franchise squads following the International League T20 (ILT20) Season 5 player auction. Under the league’s playing conditions, each team is mandated to include four Afghanistan players in their squads, with a minimum of two required in every playing eleven.

Left-arm fast bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi secured a record-breaking USD 380,000 deal, the highest signing amount in the tournament’s history. Opening batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz also achieved a significant milestone, signing a USD 310,000 contract with the Gulf Giants.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) noted that these opportunities stem from a strategic partnership with the ILT20 and the Emirates Cricket Board. ACB CEO Naseeb Khan stated that the auction has raised the profile of Afghanistan cricket and aims to provide sustained, long-term opportunities for the nation's players.
