Africa Aerospace and Defence 2026 showcases industry and technology

The Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) 2026 exhibition is currently being held at Air Force Base Waterkloof. While the event remains a major international platform with delegations from over 50 countries, there is a noted decrease in foreign aircraft participation compared to previous years.

Notable international hardware includes an Angolan Air Force C-295 transport aircraft and a Chinese-designed K-8 jet trainer from the Zimbabwe Air Force, which is scheduled for the flying display. This contrasts with past exhibitions that featured significant military presence from the United States and Brazil.

Beyond the technical displays, the event serves as a recruitment tool for the sector. Officials are encouraging South African youth to explore careers in defence and aerospace by providing direct access to industry professionals and modern military technology.
