The Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG) will convene its Third High-Level Roundtable on Critical Minerals Development in Africa on September 21, 2026, in Manhattan, New York. Held on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, the summit will be chaired by Nigerian President Bola Tinubu in his capacity as Chairperson of the AMSG General Assembly.

The roundtable, themed ‘From Resources to Wealth: Continental Cooperation for Mineral Value Addition,’ aims to transition the continent from a traditional extract-and-export model of raw minerals toward local processing and integrated value chains. This shift is intended to help African nations capture greater economic value from strategic reserves of lithium, copper, cobalt, graphite, manganese, and rare earth elements, which are essential for the global energy transition, electric vehicles, and advanced manufacturing.

Key objectives include attracting transformative capital, strengthening intra-African cooperation, and unveiling the Continental Integration and Economic Assurance Declaration (CIEAD). The event will also introduce the CIEAD Finance Window to mobilize funding for mineral processing infrastructure and technology. The summit will bring together African heads of state, ministers, global investors, and executives from the mining, technology, and logistics sectors.
