Africa U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier set for Tanzania

The Africa Division 1 Qualifier for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place from August 30 to September 5, 2026, at the TCA Cricket Arena in Tanzania. Eight teams will compete for a single qualification spot for the 2027 tournament, which will be co-hosted by Bangladesh and Nepal.

Nigeria has named a 14-player squad led by captain Christabel Chukwuonye to defend their status as previous qualifiers. The squad includes several players from the team that competed in the 2025 U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia. Nigeria will face competition from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Malawi.

Zimbabwe’s draw for the tournament includes matches against Rwanda, Kenya, and Namibia. The tournament structure includes group stages followed by semi-finals and a final to determine the winner.
