Africa World Airlines resumes direct Accra–Abidjan flights

Africa World Airlines (AWA) has resumed direct flights between Accra, Ghana, and Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, following a nearly four-year suspension caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The inaugural flight on the revived route took place on Monday, August 31, 2026, with a flight duration of approximately one hour.

The service is scheduled to operate four times a week, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The relaunch ceremony at Accra International Airport was attended by AWA Founder and Board Chairman Togbe Afede XIV, Deputy Minister for Transport Dorcas Affo-Toffey, and various aviation and diplomatic officials.

This restored air link is expected to facilitate increased trade, tourism, and business travel between the two nations. Côte d'Ivoire serves as Ghana's largest trading partner within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), making the direct connection significant for regional economic integration and intra-African connectivity.
