Africa50 secures $330 million for infrastructure projects

At the 2026 Infra for Africa Forum in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the pan-African infrastructure investment platform Africa50 announced new financial commitments and strategic partnerships to support continental development.

A major highlight includes a $20 million equity commitment from British International Investment (BII) to Africa50’s Infrastructure Acceleration Fund (IAF). This injection brings the total capital commitments for the IAF to approximately $330 million. The fund focuses on sectors such as power, clean energy, transport, logistics, water, sanitation, digital infrastructure, and social facilities.

Additionally, Africa50 has entered into agreements with the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) and TAQA Arabia to develop the first phase of a small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) project. This initiative aims to distribute domestic natural gas to industrial and transportation customers across Tanzania, strengthening energy security and supporting industrialization.
