African health initiatives focus on regional cooperation and HIV prevention

Health initiatives in Africa are seeing renewed focus through regional cooperation and digital innovation. In Algeria, the World Health Organization has recognized the country's leadership in promoting African health cooperation. Local medical discussions have also addressed various health challenges, including diabetes, breast cancer, and Alzheimer's disease, alongside advancements in national pharmaceutical production.

In Côte d'Ivoire, the HIV prevention platform ‘À l’assaut du SIDA’ (AADS) marked its 10th anniversary by presenting new strategic perspectives to the UNAIDS country director for Côte d'Ivoire, Togo, and Benin. Supported by the National AIDS Control Program (PNLS), the initiative has engaged hundreds of thousands of participants, including those at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations. The platform is being redesigned with new web and mobile applications to expand its reach and impact in the fight against the pandemic.
