African journalists trained to provide independent coverage of China-Africa relations
Journalists from seven Francophone countries participated in a training workshop in Dakar to improve coverage of China-Africa relations. Organized by E-jicom and the Wits Centre for Journalism in March 2026, the three-day program aimed to help media professionals move beyond foreign narratives and provide independent, critical analysis of the complex economic and geopolitical dynamics between the two regions.
The initiative seeks to address the gap in African press coverage regarding Chinese investments and partnerships. Following the workshop, participants from various West and Central African media outlets, including Ouestaf News and Afrique Economie, have committed to producing a collaborative series of articles to offer a more informed African perspective on the subject.
