African stock markets show mixed moves as Nigeria index slips and Namibia index rises

Nigeria's NGX All-Share Index fell 0.21% on Wednesday, closing at 242,366.75 points and keeping the year‑to‑date gain at 55.75%. Market capitalisation rose 0.25% to ₦156.24 trillion, with banking and insurance sectors posting modest gains while consumer goods and industrials slipped. Trading volumes and turnover dropped sharply, and Treasury Bill yields edged higher across all tenors.

In Namibia, the Overall Index on the Namibia Securities Exchange increased 0.53% to 2,305.40 points, extending a 7.66% rise since December 2025. The basic‑materials sector led gains, up 1.59%, while financials and consumer‑discretionary stocks fell modestly. The local index was largely unchanged, and dividend yields remained stable across sectors.
