Aftershock leads Platu 25 World Championship after opening day

The Platu 25 Sailing World Championship has commenced in San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy. Following the first of four competition days, the Australian team Aftershock, led by skipper Mark Griffith, secured the top position by winning all three inaugural races.

Trailing the Australian team are the Italian Associazione Velica Senigallia, helmed by Marco Angiolini, in second place, and the Japanese Sailing Team, led by Takeru Tanakamaru, in third. The event is organized by the Circolo Nautico Sambenedettese and supported by local regional authorities.

Mark Griffith expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, noting that while they expected to be competitive, winning all three races on the opening day was unexpected. The championship is scheduled to conclude with the world champion award ceremony on Saturday, September 19.
