Expert Sergeant Hasan Samur killed in deadly traffic crash in Afyonkarahisar
A traffic accident near Balmahmut village in the Sinanpaşa district of Afyonkarahisar, Turkey, resulted in the deaths of 27‑year‑old Expert Sergeant Hasan Samur and his 26‑year‑old wife Zehra Samur. The couple was returning from a family visit in Uşak when their car lost control, struck road barriers and rolled over, dragging about 50 metres before stopping.
The pair’s 8‑month‑old baby, Aybars Kaan Samur, was severely injured. Initial reports varied, with some outlets stating the infant later died while others described it as still alive but critically wounded. The baby was taken to Afyonkarahisar State Hospital for treatment.
Funeral rites were held in the victims’ hometowns. Hasan Samur was laid to rest in Yeleğen, Eşme district of Uşak, with attendance from local officials, law‑enforcement commanders and community members. Zehra Samur and the baby were interred side‑by‑side in Talas, Kayseri. A criminal investigation into the cause of the crash has been opened by the prosecutor’s office.
