Agbara Nla: The Return breaks Nollywood box office records

The Nollywood faith-based film ‘Agbara Nla: The Return’ has set new box office records during its preview period. According to Nigerian Box Office, the film generated approximately N71m from 12,134 admissions between September 25 and October 1. This performance is reported as the largest single-day preview gross ever recorded in West Africa and the highest first-day gross for a Nollywood title.

A modern reimagining of the 1993 classic created by Mike Bamiloye, the film follows two believers, Olaboye and Olatomi, as they attempt to bring light to the village of Muwonleru, which is under the control of a powerful herbalist named Isawuru.

While the film has achieved significant commercial success, some reviews have noted that certain elements of the production deviate from biblical teachings, despite praising the high quality of the costumes and set design.
