Agbara Nla: The Return breaks Nollywood opening records

The faith-based Nollywood film ‘Agbara Nla: The Return’ has achieved record-breaking commercial success, grossing over N170.6 million during its opening period. This performance marks the largest non-December opening for a Nollywood movie and the biggest October opening on record.

According to FilmX data, the film earned approximately N71.4 million from preview screenings before generating an additional N99.15 million during its official three-day weekend run. The film’s total opening tally, including previews, reached N170.59 million from 28,468 admissions. This success places it as the third-largest Nollywood opening of all time, trailing only ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ and ‘Behind The Scenes’.

Distributor Nile Group reported that the film has seen sold-out shows and packed cinemas nationwide. The production serves as a revival of the original ‘Agbara Nla’, which was a significant title in Nigeria’s Christian film industry 33 years ago.
