Agent2Agent protocol joins Linux Foundation's Agentic AI Foundation

Google’s Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol has become a hosted project under the Linux Foundation’s Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF). This move places A2A under neutral governance, similar to Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP).

The AAIF, which launched in December 2025, has grown to over 250 members, including major industry players such as AWS, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI. While MCP standardizes how an AI agent accesses data and tools, the A2A protocol focuses on standardizing how one agent delegates tasks to another.

This shift toward multi-vendor, neutral governance is intended to provide enterprises with insurance against ecosystem lock-in as they develop multi-agent orchestration systems.
