Andreas Skalios found dead in service vehicle in Agios Dimtrios

Andreas Skalios, a 38-year-old officer with the Athens Patrol Subdirectorate, was found dead inside a locked service vehicle in the Agios Dimtrios area. The vehicle was located at the intersection of Pikrodaphnis and Vouliagmeni Avenue following a search triggered by his active mobile phone signal.

Initial forensic assessments suggest pulmonary edema and hypoxia as possible causes of death. Investigators noted the presence of an empty alcohol bottle inside the vehicle and observed abrasions on the officer's neck and bruises on his hands. While the coroner's preliminary findings do not immediately point to criminal activity, authorities are conducting toxicology and histological tests to confirm the exact cause of death.

The officer had been reported missing by his partner, also a police officer, after he failed to appear for his scheduled shift. The Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (DAOE) is assisting in the investigation, which includes reviewing security camera footage to reconstruct his final movements.
