Cyprus emergency service death investigation

Overview

In Cyprus, the Organism of State Health Services (OKYPU) has launched an investigation following the death of a man in the Ammochostos district on 1 July. The inquiry was prompted by allegations from the deceased’s daughter, who claims that emergency response was delayed by more than 30 minutes despite multiple calls to the 112 emergency number and the ambulance service.

Investigators are reviewing call logs from the Nicosia 112 centre and the regional ambulance service, as well as examining the sequence of events and any prior hospital admissions. Police are also conducting an examination to determine the cause of death.
