Agios Dimitrios: Three arrested for defrauding 88-year-old man

Three men, aged 29, 31, and 37, were arrested in Agios Dimitrios for defrauding an 88-year-old man. The suspects reportedly impersonated employees of an electricity provider, claiming they needed to repair a power leak.

Under this pretext, the men convinced the elderly victim to place jewelry and a sum of cash into a bag and drop it from his balcony. The suspects then retrieved the bag and attempted to flee in a vehicle. The victim realized the deception and alerted the Emergency Response Center (DIAS).

Police located and apprehended the three men in the Maroussi area. During the search, authorities seized three gold chains, 660 euros, three mobile phones, two vehicles, and four surgical masks. A portion of the stolen items was returned to the victim, and the suspects have been charged with fraud by conspiracy and referred to the prosecutor's office.
