Agricultural damage reported in Murcia and Valencia following severe storms

Severe storms and extreme weather have caused significant agricultural damage across the Spanish regions of Murcia and Valencia.

In Murcia, the Union of Small Farmers and Livestock Breeders (UPA-Murcia) has called for regional government support following heavy storms. The damage is concentrated in dryland plantations across municipalities such as Mula, Bullas, Calasparra, and Jumilla. Almond crops have been particularly hard hit, with wind gusts causing more than half of the unharvested crop to fall to the ground. Other affected products include vineyards, pears, olive trees, and aromatic plants.

In the Valencian Community, La Unió de Llauradors i Ramaders reported that storms featuring winds exceeding 140 km/h and hail have heavily impacted the Ribera region. The persimmon crop is the most affected, as wind broke branches and hail damaged the fruit, reducing its commercial value. While citrus crops also faced some impact, the organization is still quantifying the total extent of the losses.
