Agricultural development initiatives advance in Yemen and Egypt
In Yemen, a four-day workshop concluded in Aden focused on enhancing participatory agricultural extension programs. Utilizing the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) methodology, the initiative aims to transition from traditional methods to modern approaches that center on farmer needs. The program, part of a food security response project funded by the World Bank Group and supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), seeks to improve the efficiency of agricultural interventions and planning.
In Egypt, the Agricultural Research Center's station in Ismailia hosted a delegation from Nile University and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation. The visit focused on the Digital Agriculture Center (DAC) project, which aims to utilize digital technology, artificial intelligence, and smart solutions to improve resource efficiency. A primary objective of the project is to enhance water use efficiency through smart irrigation systems that integrate soil moisture sensors, climate data, and crop requirements to provide precise irrigation recommendations.
