Agricultural developments in Guinea and Burkina Faso
In Siguiri, Guinea, the head of the Agricultural Service Center (CPA), Nanamoudou Magassouba, has issued a warning against the overcharging of rice harvesting services. While the official rate is set at 600,000 Guinean francs per hectare, reports have emerged of individuals demanding between 650,000 and 800,000 francs. Authorities have launched an investigation, and local officials stated that those found guilty of fraud will face legal prosecution.
In Burkina Faso, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Gaoussou Sanou, visited the Yendéré fruit farm in Comoé province to monitor the 2026-2027 wet agricultural campaign. Following a government requisition of the land in late 2023 to boost local production, the 548-hectare site has been revitalized. Currently, 115 hectares are being used to grow crops such as maize, soy, and sesame, with portions managed by local cooperatives and the Agropole company.
