Agricultural innovation and sustainability initiatives launched in Portugal

Various agricultural initiatives are being introduced in Portugal to promote digital innovation and sustainability. In Torres Vedras, the eighth edition of the Agriculture 4.0 Forum will focus on the “Observatório do Oeste: Dados, território e agricultura inteligente.” This event, organized by SFColab in partnership with local municipalities and scientific institutes, will present a new agroclimatic knowledge platform designed to transform microclimatic and geospatial data into actionable information for farmers and technicians to manage risks like frost, heatwaves, and pests.

In Serpa, the “Dia Aberto” event, part of the Alqueva Sustentável Project, will address agricultural diversification and farm resilience. Hosted by Casa Agrícola Tavares de Almeida, the initiative aims to demonstrate how diversifying crops and production activities can reduce dependency on single-crop systems, mitigating risks from price volatility, climate change, and disease. The program will emphasize soil fertility, water efficiency, and energy management to support economic and environmental sustainability in the region.
