Agricultural innovation initiatives launched in Slovakia and the EU

In Slovakia, a new project called CROP ARENA has been launched to evaluate winter wheat cultivation technologies. Unlike traditional field trials that compare specific products or varieties, CROP ARENA focuses on entire cultivation systems under identical conditions. By using a single location, consistent soil types, and standardized mechanization, the project aims to eliminate environmental variables and provide agronomists with data on how complete technological systems perform in real-world practice.

On a broader scale, the European Commission has adopted a new strategic approach to research and innovation for the agriculture, forestry, and food systems sectors. This strategy integrates the AgRI 2040 and Food 2040 frameworks to enhance competitiveness and resilience. The initiative emphasizes connecting researchers, startups, and end-users—specifically farmers—to test and demonstrate solutions in real-world conditions, aiming to bring innovations from research to market more efficiently.
