Agricultural sectors in Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon expand production and financing

In Côte d’Ivoire, the rubber industry is expanding its value chain by integrating rubber seed collection for biofuel production. The Fédération des organisations professionnelles agricoles de producteurs de la filière hévéa de Côte d’Ivoire (FPH-CI) has set a collection target of 64,500 tonnes for 2026, up from 63,000 tonnes in 2025. Through a partnership with Eni Côte d’Ivoire, these seeds are pressed locally and transformed into vegetable oil for use in advanced biofuel refineries.

In Cameroon, the BC-PME is playing a central role in financing the Integrated Import-Substitution Plan for agropastoral and fisheries sectors. A new agreement signed by the Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, Dr. Taïga, provides an additional 6.5 billion FCFA to support the dairy and fish industries. This funding aims to boost local production capacities and reduce credit costs through subsidized rates. Additionally, 400 million FCFA has been allocated to support the distribution of locally produced rice and wheat, while 600 million FCFA is designated for commercial circuits.
