Agricultural technologies enhance cattle productivity in Bolivia and Paraguay
New agricultural technologies are being implemented in South American livestock sectors to improve cattle productivity and reproductive efficiency.
In Bolivia, the Intensive Pasture Finishing (TIP) strategy is being utilized to optimize the final fattening phase of cattle. This method combines high-quality pasture with significant concentrated supplementation, typically ranging from 1.0% to 2.0% of live weight. The goal is to increase daily weight gain and carcass yield, allowing animals to reach slaughter weight more quickly while maintaining pasture as a primary dietary component.
In Paraguay, Biogénesis Bagó Paraguay has introduced a reproductive technology designed to reduce early embryonic loss. Developed in collaboration with researchers from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, the Kit Adaptador uses essential vitamins and minerals to combat oxidative stress. Field trials involving approximately 2,500 cows in the Concepción, Boquerón, and Alto Paraguay regions showed a pregnancy rate increase of 10% to 11% compared to untreated groups.
