Pahang farmer loses RM1.15 million in love scam

A 50-year-old female farmer and agricultural product trader in Cameron Highlands has lost over RM1.15 million to a love scam. The victim reportedly met a man identified as Siew Gui Lim, also known as Jason, via WhatsApp on July 17.

According to Pahang police, the suspect posed as a director of a cybersecurity consultancy firm and lured the victim into a gold investment scheme promising high returns. When the victim attempted to recover her funds, the suspect directed her to a platform called ‘Veniec Lottery,’ claiming it would allow her to withdraw her previous investments.

The victim was subsequently persuaded to make additional deposits to secure profits and bonuses. In total, she transferred RM1,150,034.70 across seven different bank accounts using her personal savings and loans from family members. The case is currently being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for fraud.
