Agricultural Training Initiatives Start in Argentina's Guadalupe and Colombia's Cauca

The PAIPPA institute organized a "Huerta Familiar" workshop for residents of the Guadalupe neighbourhood in Argentina, teaching families how to grow vegetables such as lettuce, radish and pumpkin in containers. Engineer agronomist Elías Herrera explained the steps from soil preparation to sowing, care and harvest, while community leader César Monzón highlighted the need for green space and cost‑saving benefits.

In Colombia, students from the Guillermo Valencia school in the Cauca department attended a strawberry‑production training that covered post‑harvest handling, quality assessment and agro‑industrial processing. Participant Tatiana Vargas said the session gave them tools to improve strawberry cultivation and explore value‑added products. The program was supported by the Cauca Governor’s Office, the University of Cauca and the municipal administration of Puracé, aiming to boost technical skills, entrepreneurship and sustainable agriculture among young farmers.
