Agrigento businesses face water shortages and safety priorities
Confcommercio Agrigento and the Italian Federation of Public Establishments (FIPE) have raised concerns regarding operational challenges facing businesses in the Agrigento province.
In Licata, the restaurant ‘Granchio Blu’ was forced to close on August 30 due to a lack of water supply caused by AICA's failure to provide the weekly water rotation. FIPE President Giovanni Morello expressed solidarity with the establishment, noting that such water shortages cause significant economic damage, including lost revenue during peak season, wasted raw materials, and damage to the credibility of local tourism.
Separately, Confcommercio Agrigento highlighted the vital role of lifeguards along the provincial coastline, describing them as a ‘presidio di legalità’ (legality outpost). The association praised the professionalism and investment in safety standards by local beach businesses, emphasizing that high-quality rescue services are a priority for the region's maritime safety and civil mission.
