Agrigento launches ‘Naturalmente Agrigento’ green tourism project
The municipality of Agrigento has launched ‘Naturalmente Agrigento’, a project designed to promote the green and sustainable aspects of its historical-rural landscape. Developed following a 2022 call from the Ministry of Tourism to revitalize UNESCO-linked cities, the initiative is being implemented in collaboration with CoopCulture.
The project aims to highlight the region's diverse natural features, including its vineyards, olive groves, and wheat fields, alongside its coastal and geological landmarks. This follows the Valley of the Temples receiving the National Landscape Award in 2017 and its recent inclusion in the national register of rural landscapes of historical interest.
The first phase will feature a ‘Slow & Green’ festival from September 4 to September 6, consisting of free talks, workshops, and concerts. The broader project will also include dedicated green paths, a mobile application, and a website. Mayor Michele Sodano and CoopCulture representatives are scheduled to present the full project on August 25.
