Agrisfera inaugurates new biomethane plant in Ravenna
A new biomethane plant has been inaugurated in Mandriole, Ravenna, by Agrisfera. The project involved a total investment of just over 10 million euros, which included a 2.3 million euro contribution from the PNRR via the GSE.
Converted from a previous biogas facility, the plant has a capacity of 400 cubic meters per hour and is expected to produce approximately 3.5 million cubic meters of biomethane annually. It processes roughly 50,000 tons of biomass per year, split equally between animal and dedicated vegetable origins. Following anaerobic digestion and upgrading, the biomethane is injected into the Snam network.
The entire production is purchased by the Marazzi Group of Sassuolo. This transition from fossil gas to biomethane is estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by nearly 9,000 tons per year. To support a circular economy model, all digestate produced is reused on Agrisfera lands.
