Agua de Puebla intensifies drainage cleaning to prevent flooding

Agua de Puebla has implemented intensive cleaning and maintenance of the drainage network in response to heavy rainfall and forecasts of intensifying storms. Since January, the concessionaire has cleared 1,780 kilometers of storm and residual drainage networks, moving closer to its annual goal of 2,000 kilometers. Additionally, more than 24,000 storm and sanitary accessories have been desilted.

To manage flood risks, specialized brigades are operating 24 hours a day to address vulnerable areas, including major avenues, underpasses, and road distributors. Through the Tláloc Committee (Committee for Attention to Hydrometeorological Phenomena) coordinated by the municipality of Puebla, the company is monitoring 59 specific points identified as highly susceptible to flooding during atypical rain events.

The maintenance program utilizes eight specialized attention brigades, 14 hydropneumatic units, two video inspection brigades, and two welding teams. These efforts aim to remove sediment, trash, and other obstructions to improve water flow capacity and reduce the risk of flooding and water accumulation in the city.
